PRODUCT EVALUATION OF FEDERAL SCHOOL OF PSYCHIATRIC NURSING IN CALABAR, CROSS RIVER STATE, NIGERIA

This study evaluated Products of Federal School Psychiatric Nursing in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. Five research questions were raised to direct the course this study. An evaluation design was adopted evaluate 64 psychiatric nurses purposively selected from 150 students who graduated between 2014-2019 working Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Calabar. Data collected using observational technique and checklist designed by researcher. The instrument validated reliability established with use Cronbach’s Alpha test at range 0.810-0.990. Analysis done descriptive statistics which involve proportion, percentage, mean, weighted mean score. Findings revealed that Nursing, Calabar fairly utilize their nursing process. However, they had overall good performance creating an atmosphere trust, allows for meeting patient’s basic emotional needs; opportunity patients express selffeelings; displaying tolerance accepting maladaptive behaviours; assisting providing necessary corrective experiences. It therefore concluded is effective preparing efficient healthcare delivery mentally ill. Based on these findings, it recommended among others school should include programme objectives curriculum, increase supervision during clinical process ensure enough project booklets are reproduced area.
